We recommend using cedar deck boards for your deck, and there are a few reasons why. First, cedar deck boards look incredible. In our opinion, nothing beats the look of a deck that is built with cedar deck boards. Also, cedar wood will last longer than regular pine wood. This is because cedar has naturally occurring oils inside it that will repel water, this helps resist rot and decay. Those same oils also repel wood boring insects for eating away at your new deck. Cedar deck boards are also smooth to the touch and feel great on your bare feet.
What decks can you do?
We can build any size deck that you are wanting. We only use the best techniques available for constructing the foundation and frame of the deck. We use concrete piers and attach the ACQ pressure treated lumber on top of the concrete, we never put a wooden post directly into the ground. Doing so would cause rot and water damage and would accelerate and reduce the lifespan of the deck. On top of the joists and beams on the deck frame, we install a black vinyl tape. This serves two functions, first it hides the wood so that you don’t see the frame through the deck boards, plus it is a water-proof barrier placed on top of the joists to protect them from water damage and rot. This will add life and functionality to your custom cedar deck.
We can also use composite deck boards for the construction of your deck. Using composite deck boards will drastically increase the lifespan of your deck surface, plus they are maintenance free and come with a 50-year manufacturer’s warranty. They come in several colors and textures as well, which allows you to pick a color to compliment your house.
