Tulsa Pavilions
Pavilions
Adding a pavilion to your patio will create a sense of being indoors, when you are actually outside. They bring elegance and sophistication to your back patio that is hard to replicate with other structures. You can turn it into the perfect outdoor living space complete with TV’s, built-in seating, ceiling fans, lighting, surround sound, and retractable screens. They are perfect for entertaining your friends and family, but can also be a place of relaxation and peacefulness.
Pavilions vs Pergolas
When we are talking with customers, one of the main questions that we get is should they go with a pavilion or a pergola. They are similar structures and can accomplish the same thing, yet they have a very different feel when you are standing underneath them. Pergolas are flat and have an open lattice top (we put a polycarbonate roof on the pergolas we build) and pavilions are built with a cathedral style ceiling with exposed rafters. Pavilions provide an openness that pergolas can’t replicate. Since pavilions have a solid roof, they block 100% of the sunlight, whereas pergolas will let some light through their roof. Also, with the added complexity and increased materials, pavilions are more expensive than pergolas. At the end of the day, it is up to you on what style structure you want to go with. Both would add a significant outdoor living space to your backyard, and we are happy to build both!
Types of Pavilions
In the world of Tulsa pavilions, there are two types that we can build, freestanding pavilions and attached pavilions. Freestanding pavilions support their own weight and rely on four (or more) posts to transfer that weight to the ground. Attached pavilions are tied into the back of your house your roof is seamlessly extended over the pavilion. In both cases we would use the same shingles that are on your house to blend it all together and not make it feel like an after-thought. Freestanding pavilions can be built right next to your house, out in your yard, or by your pool.
Features
All of our Tulsa pavilions are custom-built using cedar, so any size structure is possible. We use heavy-duty black hardware when we fasten the posts down to your concrete patio. We custom make our own decorative corbels and add a decorative profile to the ends of the main beams. Most of the time the cedar rafters are exposed and the tongue & groove boards can be seen above them. We can also build pavilions with no rafters exposed. We install the same shingles that are on the roof of your house, this helps tie everything in together.
In the pursuit of creating a home that seamlessly blends indoor comfort with the beauty of the outdoors, adding a cedar Tulsa pavilion stands out as a compelling choice. The natural warmth and timeless charm of cedar, coupled with the versatility of pavilion structures, offer homeowners a unique opportunity to enhance their living spaces. This article explores the myriad reasons why incorporating a cedar pavilion into your home is a great idea, delving into the aesthetic appeal, practical benefits, and the enduring allure that these structures bring to residential living.
Timeless Beauty of Cedar:
The first and foremost allure of a cedar pavilion lies in the unparalleled beauty and natural elegance of cedar wood. Cedar has been a favored building material for centuries, known for its rich color variations, distinctive grain patterns, and aromatic fragrance. The warm tones of cedar, ranging from honeyed amber to deep reddish-brown, lend a timeless charm to any structure, making it an ideal choice for those seeking both aesthetic appeal and durability.
Cedar’s inherent resistance to decay, insects, and weathering further enhances its desirability for outdoor structures. Unlike other woods that may require constant maintenance, cedar weathers gracefully, developing a distinguished silver-gray patina over time. This not only adds character to the pavilion but also reduces the need for frequent treatments, ensuring that your outdoor space remains inviting and visually pleasing with minimal effort. We recommend re-staining the posts of your project every 3-5 years, depending on sunlight exposure.
Integration with Natural Surroundings:
A cedar pavilion effortlessly integrates with its natural surroundings, fostering a harmonious connection between the built environment and the outdoors. The warmth and earthiness of cedar create a seamless transition from the interior of your home to the pavilion, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living spaces.
Whether nestled within a lush garden, overlooking a tranquil pond, or adjacent to a vibrant landscape, a cedar pavilion becomes a focal point that complements and enhances the beauty of its surroundings. The natural aesthetic of cedar allows the pavilion to stand as a tranquil retreat that beckons residents to unwind and connect with nature without sacrificing the comforts of home.
Versatile Design and Functionality:
Cedar pavilions offer a remarkable level of design flexibility, allowing homeowners to tailor the structure to suit their specific needs and preferences. Whether envisioned as an open-air Tulsa pavilion, a screened porch, or a fully enclosed structure, cedar’s adaptability makes it possible to create a space that caters to diverse lifestyles and preferences.
The design possibilities extend beyond mere aesthetics; cedar pavilions are versatile in functionality as well. They can serve as an outdoor kitchen, a dining area, a lounge space, or even a private retreat for relaxation. The addition of features such as built-in seating, fireplaces, or ceiling fans enhances the pavilion’s functionality, transforming it into a year-round haven for various activities and occasions.
Increased Property Value:
The addition of a cedar pavilion is not only an investment in your immediate living experience but also in the long-term value of your property. Outdoor living spaces, especially those adorned with high-quality materials like cedar, contribute significantly to a home’s overall appeal and market value.
Prospective buyers often seek homes with well-designed outdoor spaces, viewing them as extensions of the living area. A thoughtfully crafted cedar pavilion not only increases the aesthetic value of your property but also adds a distinctive feature that sets your home apart in the real estate market. As homeowners increasingly prioritize outdoor amenities, the presence of a cedar pavilion can be a deciding factor for potential buyers.
Year-Round Enjoyment:
One of the key advantages of a cedar pavilion is its ability to extend the usability of your outdoor space throughout the year. With the appropriate design features and additions, a pavilion can provide shelter from the elements, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors even during inclement weather or varying seasons.
In the winter, the addition of a fireplace or heating elements turns the pavilion into a cozy retreat during chilly evenings. Conversely, in summer, the open design of the Tulsa pavilion allows for natural ventilation, creating a cool and shaded space for relaxation. With the right combination of design elements, a cedar pavilion becomes a versatile and inviting space that adapts to the changing seasons, ensuring year-round enjoyment for you and your family.
Social Hub and Entertainment Space:
A cedar pavilion serves as a natural gathering point for family and friends, transforming your outdoor space into a social hub. Whether hosting intimate family dinners, celebratory gatherings, or casual get-togethers with friends, the pavilion provides a welcoming and comfortable setting for various social activities.
The design possibilities for entertainment features within a cedar pavilion are virtually limitless. Consider incorporating an outdoor kitchen for al fresco dining experiences, adding a bar area for refreshing beverages, or installing audiovisual elements for an immersive entertainment experience. The pavilion becomes an extension of your home where memories are made, fostering a sense of community and connection in the comfort of the outdoors.
Low Maintenance and Longevity:
Cedar’s remarkable durability and resistance to decay contribute to the low maintenance requirements of a cedar pavilion. Unlike other woods that may succumb to the effects of moisture, insects, or weathering, cedar stands resilient, requiring minimal upkeep to maintain its structural integrity and visual appeal.
Routine cleaning, occasional re-staining, and inspections are typically all that is needed to preserve the beauty of cedar. The longevity of cedar ensures that your pavilion remains a steadfast and enduring addition to your home, providing years of enjoyment with little effort on your part.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the addition of a cedar Tulsa pavilion to your home is a transformative decision that marries elegance with functionality. The timeless beauty of cedar, coupled with its versatility and durability, makes it an ideal material for creating outdoor spaces that seamlessly blend with nature. Whether seeking a tranquil retreat, a social hub, or a year-round entertainment space, a cedar pavilion caters to diverse preferences and needs.
